Google Introduces a Chip to Shock the Tech World
Google has launched a chip to run its AI operations for growing in the highly advanced wold.
Google has developed its own computer chip, which would not be its last one. The American search engine developer shocked the tech industry on 19th May 2016 when it disclosed that its newly introduced custom-designed chip that lets run what is surely the vast online empire’s future : artificial intelligence. In the previous decade, the organization has developed all types of new hardware for the huge data centers that underscore its myriad online facilities, including networking gear, computer servers, and more.
As it developed facilities of unnovelled size and scope, it required a more efficient hardware breed to provide these facilities. Over the times, such a huge number of internet companies have followed suit, compelling a seismic move in the global hardware market. With the launch of its new app specific circuit, the objective of the search engine operator is the same: unnovelled efficiency. For taking artificial intelligence to new levels, it requires a circuit that is in a position to do more in a shorter span of time whereas consuming lower levels of power.
But the impact of this newly unveiled expands well beyond the empire of the Mountain view based organization. It poses a threat to the future of chip manufacturers like NVidia and Intel Corporation- especially when one considers the organization’s vision for the upcoming times. Google’s SVP for technical infrastructure and the person behind the international data center network that underscores the search company Urs Hölzle revealed that the chip is amongst many others.
No, Alphabet’s division will not offer the newly introduced circuit to other organizations. It would not battle with NVidia or Intel Corporation. But due to its large data centers, the company is by a huge extent the biggest potential consumer for the two corporations.
