Twitter, Inc. Partners with Indosat, Indonesia Largest Carrier
In its efforts of increasing user engagement, Twitter is making topping up easier for Indosat's 68 million subscribers.
Twitter, Inc. announced on September 7, 2015 that Indosat’s, one of India’s largest carriers who the microblogging firm is in partnership with now, will provide its 68 million subscribers to top up their phones via Twitter’s direct messaging (DM) feature.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Twitter’s Managing Director for Middle East, Southeast Asia and North Africa stated that Indonesia is an emerging market with a population of over 250 million people and that it will be the social media network’s next phase of growth. The carrier, Indosat is according to the Chief of Digital at Indosat, Prashant Gokarn, the first ever carrier in Asia Pacific to sign a deal with the social media network Twitter, Inc. Although on the other hand the spokesman at Twitter declined to comment on this. They did not saying anything regarding if this was the company’s first such partnership.
The Chief of Digital at Indosat stated that they are excited to partner up with the microblogging website and added that this social media website is one of the largest platforms where their subscribers spend most of their time on and that they are glad that through this website their subscribers can directly purchase Indosat’s packages which include data, voice as well as SMS.
In March, the social media platform introduced its office in Indonesia and just recently on Tuesday announced the country’s new head of business Mr. Roy Simangunsong. He called Twitter, Inc. the “social soundtrack to daily life in Indonesia.” In order for the users to benefit from this service, they will need to follow Indosat’s Twitter account and send a direct message on it with the hashtag (#TwitBuy), the company will then send the necessary instruction to avail the service.
The firm’s Director of Business Development in Asia Pacific stated that since Indonesia is a growing market and largest mobile as well as social media market, they are glad that they partnered up with Indosat to enhance their subscriber service and increase their customer engagement. He added that this innovation was introduced to its customers to make their lives easier and more convenient as it is an integral part of their society. Along with this they will be able enjoy Indosat’s leading telecom services in the country.
In other news, the social media platform revamped its iOS apps to better match each other. Basically Twitter’s iPad and iPhone apps were designed and developed separately. The app version 6.36 is the first update of the app designed for both the mobile devices. The firm has decided that both the apps now will have same features.
