Twitter Conducts Tests On Its Timeline While Upsetting Users

Twitter conducts experiments on its timeline with its formats and relevant news but users are not happy, as they don't want the social media service to filter their news and become like Facebook.

Twitter is experimenting with its timeline, changing formats, and conducting various tests. It confirmed of doing this on Tuesday, changing the way tweets are displayed and many different ‘adjustments’. Users are not very happy with the changes.

Twitter is going to change the way tweets are displayed on its platform, sorted through a relevance strategy format. This is an action used by Facebook because users like the way news is shown and does not want it to be filtered through the irrelevant pattern. However, after the news regarding this development was made, the company’s shares were reported go up by 3%.

A spokeswoman for the social media network, Liina Potter made a statement through an email saying, “Yes, this is an experiment. We are continuing to explore ways to surface the best content for people using Twitter” Changing the old known reverse chronological order tweets and information shown on the network can turn out to be a good move, users eventually get used to the change. This drastic change also goes with what the CEO of the company said of making bold changes to the company.

The CEO of social media service, Jack Dorsey said during the second quarter earnings conference, “You’ll see us continue to question our reverse chronological timeline and all the work it takes to build one by finding and following accounts.”

Users are not happy and disagreeing with the CEO; some of them expressed their disregard on the social media platform. One of the tweets from a user said, “I see Twitter to see what happens and when. Showing posts out of order are one of the things, I hate the most about Facebook. Please don’t.”

The micro blogging company recently changed the way images were viewed on its platform, removing the irritating distorted cropping of images and now they can be viewed in full screen mode. This move was given positive reviews, but the change in the timeline is not the users’ favorite while analysts think this a good idea. This will help users find the tweets they missed out on while they were away easily.

The company has conducted experiments of the ‘while you were away’ option on its timeline, which was launched on the website in January this year; some of the users liked it while some were made negative comments.

It goes without saying that the statement Jack Dorsey made of ‘bold changes’ to the service has without doubt proved to be very true. The social platform added the ‘buy now’ button for purchasing and getting into the e-commerce business, ‘Moments’ feature was added later, the favorites icon was changed from the start to a widely used and know ‘heart’ symbol instead. After this, the display of images seen on the website was changed and now the organization is experimenting with its timeline in efforts to increase user growth.

Twitter stock closed at $24.32, going red by -2.68% on December 9.
