Twitter launches new emojis as a reward to winners and fans worldwide who will participate in the competition.

Twitter is starting a worldwide competition for fans of the famous pop band ‘One Direction’. Whoever wins this competition in 10 countries will be achieving new emoji’s with the faces of the bands members. This is another attempt by the company to make its services more attractive to the users and the hope of new users to join and boost user growth.

The competition is reported to last for 24 hours on Saturday. Six fresh emoji’s were shown which had band members’ faces on Twitter Inc. This was done so that users can be more motivated to compete, as they will know what will be rewarded once they win. This might be a big deal to the bands fans, and evidence shows this boy band is highly popular and loved globally by many people.

Twitter is aiming to achieve younger users. This strategy is evidence to that as its current users are much older. The emoji’s can be seen once the user puts in hashtags such as #1D, #1DLiam, #1DHarry, 1DNiall, 1DLouis and #MaidenTheAM. Once these hashtags are inserted on the search bar of the network, users can witness what they will receive if they participate in the competition.

This is not just going to be good for the website but the band too, as this competition is made public right before the release of their new album so that they can get more attention before the launch of the album while converting the competition into a promotional move as well.

The social media network has received success on one of the emoji’s #1DHarry, as this band member is highly popular among the young audience. All the users have to do who are participating in the competition is tweet the hashtags with their locations for continuous 24 hours, which will help them to keep track of the live results conveniently.

Currently, 140 countries are participating in this competition and the company is indicating that it might consider collaboration with other musicians and popular band in the future, if this competition achieves the expected success. This will also help the social media service to cope up with its ongoing problem of user growth through uniting fans worldwide. This might help it to solve the problem.

If not completely eliminate the problem, a minor contribution will definitely be made through such competitions and entertainment endeavors.
