Amazon is making its presence stronger in Columbus. It has made an investment of $1.1 billion, in order to construct three datacenters in Ohio, and now the recent news of the company building two new fulfillment centers makes it clear what it is aiming to do. This is highly beneficial for the locals in Ohio, as they will be getting more job options and opportunities within the region.
The vice president of the company’s North American operations, Mike Roth, said, “We are very pleased to continue investing in Ohio by building our first fulfillment centers in the state. This investment will create thousands of jobs that will have comprehensive benefits on day one. Our expansion in the buckeye state will also help us increase our already fast shipping times to our customers.”
Amazon can benefit from the new center, as it was recently publicly insulted in the famous New York Times, regarding the treatment pertaining to its employees. These new establishments can help the company to make its image better by making workplaces better and keep the employees happy. It is trying to make its image better by announcing that it will be providing the workers with bonuses and benefits.
According to the vice president of the e-commerce giant, it will also provide support so that there is a higher chance of workers succeeding. The employees who would work at the new centers are going to be very lucky as not just these benefits but also the facility of paternity and maternity leaves will be given. They can also share the pay with their partner through the leave share program. Prologis will construct the fulfillment center.
The fulfillment center in Obetz will occupy 1 million square feet of land and is planned to be constructed by Duke Realty. Amazon is getting the support of the president of JobsOhio, John Minor. This is mainly because the organization is promising so many jobs to the locals in the region. This is going to benefit its annual net income.
Amazon is expanding rapidly worldwide in different countries and cities. This step is necessary to take on its rivals, such as Alibaba and Netflix, who are expanding as well. Amazon prime is in direct competition with Netflix.
Amazon stock closed at $661.27, going red by -0.34% on November 19.
