Yahoo Inc Stops Mail Access

Yahoo is not letting users to access their mails if they have an activated Ad Blocker on their desired browsers.

Yahoo Inc. is one of the biggest internet companies that have had a major impact on the internet world. But it is now under immense pressure considering the major downfall it has faced in recent times. The company decided to sell its Alibaba stakes but analysts urged the company to keep states in Yahoo Japan and Alibaba and advised to sell its core advertising business instead. Therefore, it has been quite a roller coaster rider for the company in recent months. But the company is determined to keep offering best services that still survive in the market.

One of the best services of the company includes Yahoo! Mail. Recently, the internet world or basically the World Wide Web (WWW) is bombarded with advertisements and users are very much annoyed with this thing. Therefore many internet users installed an Ad Blocker to prevent seeing unnecessary ads every time they visit a page. But now Yahoo is playing a different strategy. It has announced that it will stop allowing users to access their mails if they have an Ad Blocker installed on their browsers.

The registered users on Yahoo Mail were regularly complaining regarding the issue that the internet company was preventing them to access mails if they have an activated Ad Blocker. Users also mentioned that it is not about a specific browser but they have been prevented to see their mails using desktop, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome if there is an activated Ad Blocker. An error message would be prompted asking the user to deactivate the Ad Blocker if they wish to proceed to check mails.

The giant internet company confirmed that it is currently running this test on a few customers who live in the United States. Opptrends reported, “The access denial complaints initially discovered by Digiday and later brought into the Ad Block forum held on Thursday. Former Yahoo designer Andrei Herasimchuk also reported that he has been blocked from his inbox. Users can, however, find a way around the block by using a different browser though it might involve tweaking the settings from ‘full featured’ to ‘basic’.”

Many users used various social network websites in order to show their dissatisfaction with this decision of Yahoo. Several users expressed their feelings to switch to other mailing accounts if the company continued with this policy. It is still unclear whether Yahoo is determined to give its users a reason to move to other mailing accounts or it wants to boost ad generated revenues.
