Amazon Expands Detroit Office Creates More Jobs

The e-commerce retail giant will be doubling the capacity of its office in Detroit, Michigan, due to which many local software engineers and developers will get more job opportunities.

In its plans of creating a technology hub, Amazon.com is preparing to expand its Detroit Office. By doing so, the retail giant will create hundreds of new full time jobs for high tech local employees since it would be doubling its office space. The Vice President of Amazon, Peter Faircy said in a statement during his announcement that they are now officially hiring and if anyone knows any software engineers, the company would like to speak to them.

Currently, the Vice President as well as the other officials have declined to comment on this subject and are not disclosing the number of jobs that will be created with this expansion but according to information, the management is making another floor for the office with double the space. Mr. Faircy further stated that it is focusing on hiring loyal residents from Michigan since Amazon already has a number of employees in that state.

At the office in Detroit, Michigan employees work on software development advertising sales and engineering which is all done on ground floor of the building. This expansion will create jobs mostly in the technology sector, which will include job opportunities for software engineers and developers. According to an Amazon spokesman, the sole reason why it wanted to expand the Detroit office was because of the hiring potential that it saw in the city and said on this matter that it observed a great deal of potential because of the local universities there and therefore decided to expand the office.

This announcement by the online shopping company was made at the Cobo Centre and confirmed that by 2016, it will have the Detroit platform ready by then. This new expansion strategy will surely help company boost its sales. Currently, the office has around 100 employees for these employees mostly work for advertising and some are software developers. The e-commerce retailer donated $10,000 and 30 new Amazon Tablets to Detroit Public School’s Carver STEM Academy program.

The new office might be good for fresh graduates and university students as the company already offers internships and jobs to the local Michigan students. This expansion will create more job opportunities for them and the company has started the recruitment process on its website and updated its career option on its website. Detroit office will help attract more customers and will be able to target larger audience, which will ultimately increase the company’s sales.

Detroit’s Mayor, Mike Duggan said that businesses are seeing Detroit as a decent investment now after a global company is establishing its business in the city of Michigan.
